Artist's Description
SOLD to collector(s) in:
Utah - 2
Every year thousands of wildflowers can be found in bloom throughout the mountains in Albion Basin in Alta, Utah at the head of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The Wasatch Wildflower Festival was created by Alta Community Enrichment (ACE), a tight-knit community of Alta friends and was funded by completely by the Alta Lodge. The idea sprung up after the community was discussing how they wanted to share their beautiful environment, flowers, food, musicians and the community of Alta with each other and the rest of the world. The first festival was in 1996 and was one of ACE’s first events.
The yellow flowers covering the hillside are Onehead Sunflowers (Helianthella uniflora). Spring comes late at this elevation. Alta's base elevation is 8,530 ft and rises to 11,068 ft for a vertical gain of 2,538 ft.
