Description
I delicately colored bearded Iris. Iris is a genus of 260–300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris. The habitat of irises also varies a lot. Some irises grow in deserts, some in swamps, some in the cold far north, and many in temperate climates. Bearded Iris and Siberian Iris are two of the most common types of irises grown. The iris has probably second place as the favored flower in great art. After the rose which is surely number 1. irises appear in paintings by Leonardo daVinci, Durer, Renoir, Cezanne, van Gogh.
