Description
SOLD to collector(s) in:
Utah
One of the feistiest hummingbirds in North America. The brilliant orange male and the green-and-orange female Rufous Hummingbird are relentless attackers at flowers and feeders, going after (if not always defeating) even the large hummingbirds of the Southwest, which can be double their weight. Rufous Hummingbirds are wide-ranging, and breed farther north than any other hummingbird.
Rufous Hummingbirds breed in open areas, yards, parks, and forests up to treeline. On migration they pass through mountain meadows as high as 12,600 feet where nectar-rich, tubular flowers are blooming. Winter habitat in Mexico includes shrubby openings and oak-pine forests at middle to high elevation.

As a personal note, I really thought you would win first, however all 3 are awesome! Congratulations on being in the top winners spots of our recent contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery. Your submissions were excellent and surely qualified for top wins. When your works are voted on by your peers, it is quite an honor to be recognized by fellow artists who admire your art works. Thanks for entering this fun contest, and your winning pieces are displayed on our homepage.
Marty Fancy replied:
Thanks for the feedback, Randy! I look at the votes and comments as feedback. The actual placement in a contest is not as important. Fun contest, thanks!
