The Beaufort, North Carolina waterfront viewed from Taylor’s Creek. The Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center sits on Taylor's Creek, across from the North Carolina Maritime Museum on Front Street. Opening in 1992 it was the beginning of the North Carolina Maritime Museum as we know it today. Here locals, visitors and boaters alike are encouraged to watch, and take boat building courses offered throughout the year.
The Dorothy is a traditional wooden boat, a sprit rig sailboat, built at the Watercraft center. Here she is sailed by members of the Beaufort Women’s Sailing Club in the Fishtowne Regatta.
